Get to know more about Lock Assist
Local Master Locksmiths established in 2003
Lock Assist was started in 2003 years ago by Paul Harper-Smith who was taken on as an apprentice by his Uncle Colin in 1983. Colin Harper-Smith worked at Chubb in London for many years before starting his own locksmith’s business in 1971.
We love being involved closely with all of our local Sussex community projects. From sponsoring football teams, supporting club captain charity events and even mucking in with fete's and fayre's. Lock Assist are there to help!
Paul Harper-Smith
Hi, it’s Paul and I started the company in 2003 and we’re still going strong so we must be doing something right!
There’s nothing more satisfying to me than picking a lock open – if you don’t include eating cake and drinking espresso, obviously! When not helping people with their lock problems, I enjoy playing the drums - much to the delight of the neighbours who I see waving their arms in the air clearly having a great time feeling the groove.
I’m married to the lovely Ruth, have 2 grown up daughters and 3 grandsons. I also have a classic white Mini which I love driving when the sun’s out but the car never goes out in the rain.
Karl
Hey, I’m Karl! I’ve been at Lock Assist since 2018 and Sarah who works here in the office tries to keep Paul and I out of the office on jobs so she can enjoy some peace and quiet!
I’m a keen car enthusiast and a father/taxi to my two grown up girls when at home. One is learning to drive so my taxi days may be coming to an end. You’ll most likely see me at your property helping sort out your lock problems or occasionally in the shop cutting keys.
I love Custard Cream biscuits but have started to cut back due to becoming squarer and bigger!
Sarah
Hello! I’m Sarah and started with Lock Assist at the beginning of 2023 and am loving it! If you call us, it will most likely be my voice you’ll hear when enquiring about your lock troubles and, as I always say, sending us a photo of the lock or key or safe is a great help to Paul and Karl. Sometimes we can even help you solve the problem yourself without a need for anyone to come to you.
I love my old sporty VW Golf although there always seems to be something needed to be done on it – almost monthly - and my 2 grown up girls are constantly telling me to get rid of it but I love it.
